Nighttime skincare mistakes that you might be making

People generally have become more conscious about the health of their facial skin. Gone are the days when merely using a moisturizer was considered enough, and internal beauty was all that mattered.

Now, people know there are many skin issues that need to be addressed in time to ensure a smooth, supply and youthful looking skin.

But at times, despite the earnest efforts, it can also happen that you do end up making mistakes that cause your skin damage.

Not using hyaluronic acid right

Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning that it draws moisture to the skin. Therefore, it helps the skin be hydrated, and look the part as well.

However, if you do not use it right, it can cause water loss, and make the skin look dehydrated. This can be avoided by using hyaluronic acid right after cleansing. Do not completely wipe off the moisture from the face; keep skin a little damp and then apply the acid.

Not using the right serums

Just because some blogger swore by the result of a particular serum does not mean that you also need to have it. Before starting a serum, you should check for its purpose, and whether it is compatible with your skin type. And, most importantly, if you even need such a serum.

Moreover, the timing of the serum is also important. While some brands do make vitamin C serums that are to be used at night, most are intended for using during the day, as the exposure to free radicals is greater in the day, and thus the anti-oxidative properties are needed more then.

Similar, you should be using resveratrol at night, not the day, as sunlight renders it ineffective.

Not doing exfoliation right

Exfoliation is an important step in skincare. It helps in improving skin cell turnover. It is also helpful for removing the dead skin cells, and thus improves the textures and appearance of skin. It also aids in improving the efficacy of skincare products otherwise as well.

However, if not done right, exfoliation can hurt the skin as well. It can lead to microtears in the skin. It can also cause inflammation, lead to irritation, redness, itching, and compromised skin barrier.

So, be careful about your exfoliation routine. Certain products like retinols also improve cell turnover, so using exfoliation in tandem can be too much for the skin.

Furthermore, scrubs and similar physical exfoliants can be too harsh for the skin, and lead to tears and abrasion. Over exfoliation is not good for the skin. So, while you should exfoliate skin, but be mindful of how you do it. Once or twice the week should suffice; you should use chemical exfoliants and check if other products have the same purpose, so as to not make it redundant.

Not caring for skin other than the facial

Most people focus so much on their facial skin and neglect the skin otherwise. Even neck also tends to get ignored. Furthermore, those with skin problems like eczema, etc., need to pay attention to their body’s skin, so as to improve its health.

Not using the retinols and vitamin A derivatives right

Vitamin A and its derivatives the good for the skin, but trickier to handle. Some are mild, and some are harsh. If you use in just the right amount, it will help your skin manage its texture, oil production, prevent acne and breakouts, and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

However, if you overdo with retinols and co., you can end up overwhelming your skin, causing it then to become damaged. Therefore, when using vitamin A’s derivatives, it helps to consult Dermatologists in Lahore. And make sure you do not use different too much of the product.
